| This was initiated by the Buhoma Community Development Association in Conjunction with Mr Chriss Sandbrock of British Nationality who provided very helpful technical assistance and even helped with the fundraising for the project. |
The Community Education Center was set up with the following objectives;
- To Act as a source of income to the community that would be injected in the community projects.
- Provide employment to the local people.
- To Act as a center for sensitization of the local communities about conservation,house hold income generation....etc
- Provide Accomodation to students who come to BINP.

| Groups like Bwindi progressive women's group, Bwindi Children Development Center, that fight for the rights of women, children and other disadvantaged people through Drama. |
| Bwindi Bird Club was established and organised by local birders to promote conservation and bird watching in the area. This Club is also affilitated to Nature Uganda (www.natureuganda.org) and Uganda Bird Club. |
